It’s April 23, the day the world celebrates the birth of William Shakespeare! I fell in love with Shakespeare’s words as a kid, and each year I discover more to love about his poetry and plays. MIDSUMMER’S MAYHEM was inspired by one of his best-known and beloved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. To celebrate, I’m giving away a bunch of Shakespearean goodies to revel in stories and the love of language. The prizes include:
- The Shakespeare Book, which uses photos, images, and timelines to help put Shakespeare’s work in context
- A Shakespeare magnetic dress-up set
- Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream For Kids, so kids can put on the play and understand and enjoy it!
- A Shakespearean magnetic poetry kit
- A signed copy of MIDSUMMER’S MAYHEM when it publishes on June 4!

My favorite quote? Oh, I have so many! But from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this is my current fav: “Though she be but little, she is fierce!”
“As flies to wanton boys are we to the gods; They kill us for their sport.“
Fantastic quote! It gives me the chills.
“All the world’s a stage/And all the men and women merely players.” I commented with this on Twitter. Another great line is, “Now is the winter of our discontent/Made glorious summer by this sun of York.”
Love both quotes! Thanks for reading and entering!!
Because the Sweet Swan of Avon was also the Tyrannosaur of Trash Talk:
“Away, you bottle-ale rascal, you basket-hilt stale juggler, you.”
Or, if that’s too wordy…
“Thou crusty batch of nature!”
Love these! We have both a mug and a T-shirt with Shakespearean insults…which are of course the best!!
That is also my favorite quote! “Though she be but little, she is fierce.”
Great minds… ?
“Thoughts are but dreams till their effects be tried.”
This is the perfect quote for writing! Thanks for reading and entering!
“Brevity is the soul of wit.” from Hamlet, which is my favorite play.
Love this quote, and Hamlet!
Out damn spot, out I say! That always stuck in my head!
Yes! That quote is haunting.
“Go wisely and go slowly. Those who rush stumble and fall.” Romeo and Juliet
Great quote!
